The Temple will be a meditation, yoga, and retreat center based on a “returning to the Source” philosophy, says author, founder, and spiritual guide Anil. “The five elements can be a continual source of joy, accessible anytime, anywhere. As opposed to a teacher, who may not always be available to us” The land for the Temple of elements is located above the very scenic and very sacred village of Pharping (just 20 km from Kathmandu). It is easily accessible from the capital, and its status as a pilgrimage site with awe-inspiring beauty is second to none. Pharping is a sacred location for Buddhists for several reasons. Padmasambhava (known as the founder of Tibetan Buddhism), meditated in what is known as Asura cave, attaining the Great Seal of Perfection here. He left his handprint in stone in the cave. The village is also home to the world renowned self arising Tara images, two of which are currently visible. The Temple of Elements land faces Asura cave, and overlooks a valley and the many beautiful monasteries which have been built around these holy sites. The philosophy behind the temple and retreat center is unique, as well as inclusive. It is to be a place of healing for people of all faiths… bringing us back to our essential joyous nature through a connection with the sacred , and the four elements of wind, water, fire, and earth. Honoring the Land founder Anil Thapa has already purchased the land for the Four Elements Temple, at a cost of $180,000 USD. Costs for the construction of the Temple are a proposed $500,000. Anil Thapa, author of Honoring The Land: Alignment with the Elements, is on a mission to spread the importance of connecting with nature and protecting the environment. Anil believes that we have lost our way as a collective and while humans have prioritized economic development and monetary gain, we have become disconnected from Mother Nature and have taken our planet for granted. This external disconnection from the natural world reflects an internal disconnection that we have with ourselves.
Anil Thapa’s vision is to build The Temple of Elements Meditation Center in Pharping, Nepal. This meditation center will emphasize the importance of creating space for reconnecting with Mother Nature, which in turn, will allow us to more deeply reconnect with ourselves.
The mission of The Temple of Elements Meditation Center is to bring people together and allow them to be a part of Earth centric ceremonies and rituals.
